Highlights is a children's magazine designed for ages 6-12 that inspires and entertains kids while helping them develop reading skills, critical thinking skills, social skills, and more!

Highlights is a popular children's magazine full of fun games, puzzles, activities, and articles to foster a love of learning. Since 1946, Highlights has offered valuable content that teaches children problem-solving and language skills that will help them in school and in the future. Each issue features a combination of stories, puzzles, games, and hands-on crafts to keep young readers ages 6 to 12 years old engaged.

Some of the most popular features of Highlights include "Hidden Pictures," which is a puzzle section that asks children to find smaller pictures within a larger scene, and a jokes section to keep them laughing. Another popular feature, "Ask Arizona" offers kid-friendly advice. Readers are also encouraged to send their own advice to children who write in with questions. Other sections include brain teasers, stories, science and nature articles, and the "Your Own Pages" section that displays art, poems, and stories submitted by Highlights readers.

Another feature of Highlights are the long-running comics, "Goofus and Gallant," and "The Timbertoes." "Goofus and Gallant" illustrates the contrasting actions of two boys, and is designed to teach social skills, while "The Timbertoes" chronicles the misadventures of a family made from wood.

Highlights is the perfect magazine for children who enjoy games and puzzles, as well as for those who are interested in learning more about the world around them. A subscription to the print version of Highlights also includes digital access.

The magazine is great, but WATCH out —- the magazine will automatically renew unless you manage your subscription and turn the auto-renewal off.

I haven't gotten any of the junk/promo subscriptions that others are complaining about. That said I teach my kid about things in life and to never trust when someone or something says 'free'. My 6 years old knows that in the end, everybody just wants your money, so don't get fooled/tricked. So when he saw the 'free/ask your parents/you win' promos, he checked with me first and I read him the fine print and explained how the hook and sinker of 'the free deal' to him.
The magazine itself is pretty fun for him, some stuff he is too young for, some stuff is too easy. Thats good this way he can grow with it.

I purchased these for my 6 year old son. I was super excited for these to arrive as I got Highlights as a child and absolutely loved it.
I recognized the hidden pictures & where the children submitted their work right away.
However my son didn’t enjoy it like I did. But then children have a lot more choices when it comes to entertainment these days!

This selection was a bit advanced for my 4 year old but she still enjoyed many of the features. Hidden pictures is always a favorite. We have subscribed to various Highlight publications since she was a wee one. Lots of good leasons and fun learning for little ones.

I was reading reviews, thinking of ordering a subscription for my granddaughters. I loved the magazine when I was a kid. I only got to read it in the doctor's office or if a classmate brought one to school because we were too poor to afford it. I was so jealous of the kids who had this delivered to their home every month. What a luxury. I was ready to order something else after reading all the bad reviews of their marketing practices. Then I noticed that I had ordered it last year for other granddaughters. I knew that I wasn't getting any unsolicited items from them. I contacted my son. He told me that his girls love Highlights. The four year old is especially glad to get each edition. And no, he had never received unsolicited items or had any problems at all.

I do not doubt that they engage in the practices that are alleged. The stories are too similar to discount and why would anyone lie about it. I am guessing that because the billing and shipping addresses differ we are not subject to the problem. I notice that grandparents are not complaining about the practice. It appears that because they have no billing information on the recipient they don't bother with the scam.

My advice is to have the grandparents order the magazine for the kids if you want to receive it.
